Other watches with the movement that your watch has were sold mostly in Canada and Australia in both Rolex and Tudor. Zell Bros was a jeweler in the Northwest and had an arrangement with Rolex for a period of time to sell their watches under the Turtle name. (Chosen presumably because of its likeness to Oyster i.e. denoting a strong waterproof casing.)

The model number ending in J1 indicates it's made in Japan, which ultimately makes them a bit more desirable among buyers / collectors. The model number ending in K1 indicates it's made in Korea.Take this ref. 3478 Rolex Oyster from 1942, which features a dial that replaces the Rolex logo with the words ‘Turtle Timer’. This line of watches was produced by Rolex for the Oregon based retailer Zell Brothers.
For argument’s sake, a Rolex Submariner Date would have set you back 5 in 1977 or ,024 in 2024 dollars.
